New Jersey Report on Local Government Corruption
New Jersey's Attorney General's office has a 1992 report on their website about different local government corruption cases. It is described below:
Local Government Corruption Overview
As part of the Commission’s continuing assault on local government corruption and the conditions which sustain it, public hearings were held in January 1992 and a report was issued in September. The report detailed purchasing scams, corrupted inspections, tainted land use decisions and a raft of embezzlements of government funds. A key focus involved troubling examples where organized crime has capitalized on the presence of municipal corruption. At least two statutes incorporating the Commission’s s recommendations have been enacted, and a number of other bills are under consideration by the Legislature.
