Dubai Cracking Down on Corruption with String of Arrests
This is a little article that appeared in a Middle East website, but indicates some countries like Dubai ARE cracking down on Corruption, which is a good thing. They actually are arresting people. Dubai is very aware of the negative effect of corruption on their image as a "place to be" and "do business".
What is interesting is that I found this article when searching for articles on USAID's Tatweer Project, which was discussed in the previous post. This article is about a UAE developer called Tatweer.

From the Emirates Business 24/7 Website
A former senior executive at UAE developer Tatweer has been arrested by Dubai police as part of an anti-corruption crackdown.
Sami Al Hashmi, former Vice President of Tatweer subsidiary Mizin, was reportedly arrested over alleged irregularities in a deal he approved during his time at the company.
Tatweer, part of the government-owned Dubai Holding, said in a statement that Al Hashmi resigned from his position in July, 2008 and has not been associated with the company since.
Al Hashmi has been held for 10 days without charge, according to the Zawya Dow Jones news service.
