Well, it seems that all of us Iraq alumni still have a chance to write the big blockbuster movie on the REAL Green Zone in Iraq.
The media is trashing the new Matt Damon movie "The Green Zone", saying the plot isn't good, there isn't much action, that if focuses on corruption in Iraq, and it is a bore. Thus, it can't be about the REAL Green Zone, because it was NEVER boring...
And, when they talk about the movie being about corruption, they are referring to
the liberal definition of "corruption", referring to the so called "corrupt Bush Administration's" reasons used to start the war in Iraq, not corruption in the reconstruction and other programs.
So, here is a link to one of the reviews...
Here is a quote from that review:
"And his weak performance only exacerbates the lack of purposeful action. With a number of overly long chase sequences, and only mildly intense shootouts, the film seems to intentionally take the focus off of the action and put it all on the corruption that apparently started the Iraq war in 2003."
I can't help wonder what it is like in the Green Zone now, when all the military run down and buy a bootleg DVD of the movie and watch it. In contrast, I was in the Army in Saigon, Vietnam in 1969 when the movies Patton, and Mash came out. The military made a big deal about letting us all see George C. Scott portray General Patton in the new movie, but they refused to allow Mash to be shown in military installations. I know it is tough to understand for you younger folks, but there were no VHS tapes or DVD copies of movies, so I had to wait until I returned to the US in early 1970 to see Mash.
