Yup, President Obama finally appointed a new head of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR). It only took 475 days to do it.
The appointee, John F. Sopko, seems to have significant experience investigating corruption, fraud, etc. so he should be a good appointment as the head of SIGAR (Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction).
I was in Iraq and Afghanistan working on anti-corruption programs, so it is good to see that after 475 days, the Obama administration finally filled this key leadership position.

Additionally, thanks go to the Project on Government Oversight (POGO) for raising the constant issue that the Obama Administration has failed to fill MANY important Inspector General positions, and maybe this appointment reflects their response to that criticism by POGO and others.
